About Us
Patricia-Anne Smies BMA, B-Ed: Pat has been an educator for as long as she can remember. Even before starting school, she played school. At various times during her career, she was an elementary teacher, music teacher, high school teacher, Head of Music and School Administrator. At all times she focused on human(istic) issues and even now her main interest is human relationships. She has been licensed as an Humanist Officiant for several years and absolutely loves it!
Pat graduated from Toronto Teachers College in Toronto followed by a Music Degree at Windsor. She also took graduate courses at Windsor– and Ottawa Universty.
Age E. Smies A-Mus, M-Mus, CD: Born and educated in the Netherlands, he came to Canada in 1970. After recertifying as an elementary and a secondary teacher, he taught both in elementary and secondary schools. For many years he was Coordinator of Music for a School Board and taught additional qualification courses for the Ministry of Education, Windsor University Faculty of Education and Laurentian University. He obtained an Honours Performance Diploma in Clarinet from Western.
While serving with Canadian Forces (R) he directed many bands and courses. He is the recipient of the Canadian Forces Medal and the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Medal.
In the Humanist Association of Canada, he has been a Board member, an Officiant Instructor and member of the Officiant selection committee.
Currently he officiates, serves as a Chaplain for the Veterans Affairs and Department of National Defense "End of Life" program.
He is also the leader of the L’LL Big Band.( a 16 member Big Band)
Age hosts a variety of radio shows and at times he finds the time to do some supply teaching.
